Nokian Tyres' mission is to create a safer world by constantly reinventing the tire and its manufacturing - for safer roads, work and everyday life, now and for generations to come. We test our tires in all weather and atmospheric conditions. Our tire testing network consists of a 700-hectare site in Ivalo, Finnish Lapland, a site near our Finnish headquarters in Nokia, Finland, and a 300-hectare site in Spain. As a pioneer in the tire industry, we strive to stay ahead and our test tracks play an important role in our continuous development.

Ivalo the “White Hell”
As the northernmost tire manufacturer in the world, we test our winter, all-season and all-weather tires at our test center in Ivalo, also known as the “White Hell”. On the more than 20 test tracks, which are spread over an area of around 700 hectares, we carry out an average of around 200 test drives during the season.

Hakka Ring
The test center, known as the Hakka Ring, has 10 test tracks for testing summer, all-season and winter tires under the hot Spanish sun. The Hakka Ring includes a seven-kilometre oval test track with five wide lanes for demanding tire tests on wet and dry roads all year round. The test center was opened in 2021.
Nokia test center
The test center is continuously being developed to be prepared for demanding conditions and future challenges. We test summer, winter and all-season tires at this test center. The track in Nokia was originally built in the 1960s, and the test center has since been expanded to an area of 30 hectares. One of the most recent expansions was completed in 1999 to allow for versatile high-speed testing in particular. Factories: Our growth is based on sustainability. We are pioneers in the industry, particularly in the reduction of CO2 emissions from production. At the beginning of 2025, we started commercial production of passenger car tires in our new factory in Oradea, Romania - the world's first tire factory with zero CO2 emissions. Apart from the factory in Romania, we manufacture vehicle tires in Nokia, Finland, and in Dayton, USA. In recent years, we have increased production capacity in our factories in Finland and the USA.

Continuum, the aim of which is the continuous improvement of safety, durability and environmental friendliness. Aramid sidewalls
In our SUV, off-road and light truck tires, we rely on our aramid sidewall technology. Aramid fibers (aromatic polyamide), which are also used in bulletproof vests, are distributed throughout the entire tire compound and help the tire to better absorb the impact of a pothole or a sharp object such as a stone.

SilentDrive™ technology
SilentDrive™ technology takes driving comfort to the extreme. The exceptionally low noise level is achieved by an additional layer of acoustic foam on the inner layer of the tire. SilentDrive™ technology is included in selected SUV sizes covering 40 different vehicles available on the market.

DSI indicator
The DSI indicator is a wear indicator that shows how much tread depth is left in millimeters. It helps to recognize when it is time to replace the tire with a new one.

ELECTRIC FIT™
Our tires are all suitable for both combustion engines and EVs. This is why we have introduced the ELECTRIC FIT™ symbol. The Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2 is the first tire to also carry the ELECTRIC FIT™ symbol visibly on the sidewall. From now on, all new products will also carry this symbol on the sidewalls.
